Sunny Blooms

I'm anxiously awaiting some blooms from my giants but in the meantime the other ones (about 4-5 feet tall) are starting to bloom.

This is my first "nontraditional color" to bloom.

Many of the plants have multi blooms on them.  Last year I only had 1 bloom per plant.

I suspect the many sunflowers I have coming up in the flower beds looks a bit out of place.  But they brought me so much joy last year that I don't care lol!

Hairy Post

Here's a picture that shows how the perm looks since it settled down.  You can't tell very well but the top did not curl as much as the rest. I coaxed the curl with mousse. This might be due to the size of the rod, I'm not sure.  Anyway, I really like it and will get another one to maintain the ease of  (literally) wash and wear hair.  I really am low maintenance lol!

We just made the last of our reservations for the Pacific Northwest next month.  We will go to the Oregon Coast to meet our BAR pals, then go to the Columbia River Gorge, then onto Washington where we will see Bob's brother and another Blogville pal.  We're really looking forward to it!

Can't Wait

We are in our 5th day of triple digit temperatures.  Tomorrow has been promised to be a 6th day.  I am spending a lot of time thinking about the Oregon Coast next month!  In the meantime . . .

I have 2 that have bloomed (neither are the giant sunflowers).

I can't wait!

Will Joy Return?

The sunflower on this blog is the one I grew last year that I named "Joy".  She measured about 12" across.  I really enjoyed my sunflowers though I didn't have many, just a few in the front yard and about 6 in the backyard (that didn't do really well).  I enjoyed them so much that I planted more this year.  All over the front yard in fact! They are supposed to be giants but some of them look like they are getting heads on them so we'll see.

FYI - That is Murphy's Barking Window

Pulled these babies out of the garden box a couple days ago.  I read that once the potatoes flower you can pull out some new potatoes before the sugar turns to starch. They were delicious!

Not too much going on here.  We decided to change our long run day from Mondays to Fridays.  It works out better in terms of scheduling and gives us 2 days off-running before the long one.  We've done it the last 2 weeks and quite like it.

I just finished reading "The Memory of Running" which has nothing to do with running.  I still can't decide what I thought about the book.  The main characters have lots of depth (and issues) to them.  It would be a good book for a book club I think.  My next read is all about Square Foot Gardening.  The book just came today so I am wanting to get to it.

Curly Carol

From our run this morning.  The wind was blowing my hair (very windy against the mountain) but you get the idea.

Right after I got home from getting the perm.

I love it (but not sure why the color difference).

No Photos

It would probably be better to write this post later today or even tomorrow.  That way I could give you the photo you are likely to REALLY want to see after you read what I have to say.  Here are my shocking words . . . I'm getting a perm today!

Yup, gonna do it.  I have had about a zillion perms in my history and loved every one of them.  This time there are 2 things that are different though.  First, I have a whole bunch of perm-resisting gray hair.  And secondly, my hair is shorter than it has ever been with a perm.  Does a Brillo pad come to mind lol!

I have absolutely no talent whatsoever in "doing" my hair.  It is so fine and straight that all it wants to do is lay flat against my head, like one of those cheap dolls that have molded plastic hair instead of real hair.  Unless I can coach some lift into my hair I feel like my head look like a pea on a watermelon.  And, the notion of "wash & wear" is very appealing to me.

So I'm going to get an eye exam this morning (new reading glasses), then my appointment is at 1pm.

Anything's possible - LOL!
